My friend Chrissy has a daughter about a month older than Oliver and often acts as my adviser on parenting a 14 month old (at the moment). With a toddler also in her family, she laughed to learn I still spoon fed Ollie yogurt and the like and encouraged me to just give him a spoon and let him try, so I did! Superstar did quite well.
